Seraphim is a very simple, yet elegant design that makes one think of feathered wings. Using fingering weight yarn gives the solid stockinette upper portion a warmth not found in most lace shawls. It would be perfect to throw over a t-shirt in a drafty room, or could spice up a plain black dress for an evening out. Well-placed eyelets allow the stockinette upper portion to fade into the lace edging for a subtle effect.
Gauge: 20 stitch and 30 rows over 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette after blocking.
Finished Measurements: 72 inches (183 cm) across the top, and 36 inches (91.5 cm) from neck to bottom point.
Yarn Requirements: 800-900 yards of fingering weight yarn. Sample in Dream in Color Smooshy in ‘Some Summer Sky’
Needle Size: 4mm (US 6) 24 or 30 inch circular or size needed to obtain gauge.
Pattern Includes: charts and text translations of charts
Stitches Used: knit, purl, k2tog, yo, sl1 k2tog psso, ssk, Centered Double Decrease.
Other Details: This shawl is worked from the neck down, using yarn overs on each end of each right side row to shape the “wings” and paired yarn overs in the center of each right side row (separated by a center stitch) to shape the point down the spine. These 4 increased stitches are added every right side row, making each row successively longer than the last, so that what started with 5 stitches cast on, ends with hundreds.

This shawl commemorates the sad story of Ophelia, from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, who went mad and tragically drowned. It begins with a brocade-like motif to evoke Ophelia’s dress, which held her aloft in the stream. Then it progresses to a floral motif with nupps, and finally to a rippling feather and fan pattern to represent the water.
Gauge: 25 stitches and 34 rows per 4 inch (10 cm) square in stockinette after blocking.
Finished Measurements: 18 inches (46 cm) wide, 76 inches (193 cm) long.
Yarn Requirements: 1200 yards of laceweight yarn. Sample shown in Wooly Wonka Clotho Laceweight in ‘Ophelia’
Needle Size: 3.0 mm (US 2.5) 32-inch (or longer) circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge.
Pattern Includes: charts and text translations of charts
Stitches Used: knit, purl, yo, k2tog, ssk, sl1 k2tog psso, Centered Double Decrease, single row nupps.
Other Details: This shawl is constructed with a long cast on, joined in the round. The rows are worked outward from the cast on edge, with 4 corner stitches to create a rectangle. Because of this construction, every row is a Right Side row, and you will bind off the whole outside edge. After blocking the cast on is folded in half and sewn together to complete the shawl. The diagram here may be helpful if you are having a hard time visualizing this. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mimsical/4730501380/

Named for the famous Egyptian Queen, Nefertiti. It is rumored that she ruled the Upper and Lower Kingdoms on her own after her husband’s death before her son Tutankhamun took the throne. With her husband she changed the polytheistic religion of Egypt to the worship of one god. This wrap evokes the sheer pleated gowns and serpentine vines found in carvings and artwork of Nefertiti.
Gauge: 18 stitches and 33 rows over 4 inches (10 cm) in first motif pattern after blocking.
Finished Measurements: 70 inches (178 cm) long, and 20 inches (51 cm) wide.
Yarn Requirements: 800-900 yards of laceweight yarn. Sample shown in Sweet Georgia Cashsilk Lace in ‘Hydrangea’.
Needle Size: 3.5mm (US 4) 24 or 30 inch (61-76 cm) circular or size needed to obtain gauge.
Pattern Includes: charts and text translations of charts
Stitches Used: knit, purl, k2tog, k3tog, yo, ssk, sssk, Centered Double Decrease.
Other Details: This wrap is worked from one corner increasing on each end of every right side row until the widest point is reached, and then increasing on one side and decreasing on the other to shift diagonally for the length of the wrap, then decreased on each end until the other point is created. The natural bias of the wrap makes it a trapezoid, but can be blocked rectangular.

A simple geometric lace pattern is transformed when worked across the width of this triangular shawl. Motte means “moth” in German, and the subtle colors and winged motif would put the most beautiful moth to shame.

The graceful crescent shape of this shawl makes it most comfortable to wear and a lot of fun to knit. The inner curve of the crescent allows the shawl to hang carelessly from the shoulders while creating delicate fluttering tail edges.
Lace Version
Gauge: 20 stitches and 32 rows over 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette after blocking.
Finished Measurements: 48 inches (122 cm) across widest point of circle, 23 inches (59 cm) from neck to bottom and 14 inches (36 cm) between upper points.
Yarn Requirements: 800 yards of fingering weight yarn. Shown in Spritely Goods Sylph (100% superwash merino wool, 560 yards per 115 gram skein) in ‘Cranberry’
Needle Size: 3.5mm (US 4) 36-inch circular needle for flat knitting or size needed to obtain gauge.
Stockinette Version
Gauge: 13 stitches and 16 rows over 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette after blocking.
Finished Measurements: 34 inches (86 cm) across widest point of circle, 16 inches (41 cm) from neck to bottom and 6 inches (15 cm) between upper points.
Yarn Requirements: 245 yards (4 ounces) of worsted weight handspun 2-ply 50% merino/50% silk top from Spirit Trail Fiberworks in ‘Lilac’.
Needle Size: 6mm (US 10) 36-inch circular needle for flat knitting or size needed to obtain gauge.
Pattern Includes: charts and text translations of charts
Stitches Used: knit, purl, k2tog, ssk, p2tog, p2tog through the back loop, yo, pick up stitches, Centered Double Decrease.
Other Details: This shawl begins with a provisional cast on, from which a small flap of garter stitch is knit. Stitches are then picked up from the side of the flap and the provisional cast on, then the shawl is worked from the back of the neck outward to the long circular edge in the same manner as a traditional top-down triangular shawl, but with a different increase structure. Each right side row has six increases (one at each edge and four more spaced throughout the row), and each wrong side row has two increases just inside the edge stitches totaling eight stitches increased every two rows. This rapid rate of increase is what forms the crescent shape of the shawl. These increase points create several distinct sections into which lace patterns have been inserted for the red version- the center panel with the lozenge motif, the side panels with the zig-zag motif, and the edges which have been left in stockinette stitch. The lozenge motif has patterning only on right side rows, while the zig-zag motif has increases and decreases on both right and wrong sides. The purple version was knit using the Stockinette only charts, using the same increase structure, but without lace patterning.

This shawl is designed to evoke the feeling of my beloved Wasatch and Rocky Mountain Ranges. This shawl echoes my deep and abiding love for the mountains that surround my high desert home. From the many foothills to the craggy peaks all throughout the year. From rocky ridges to sleeping snow-capped titans.
Gauge: 20 stitches and 28 rows over 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette after blocking.
Finished Measurements: 68 inches (173 cm) across the top, and 34 inches (86.5 cm) from neck to bottom point.
Yarn Requirements: 600 yards of lace weight yarn. Shown in Knit Picks Shadow in ‘Sunset Heather’
Needle Size: 3.75mm (US 5) 24 inch circular or size needed to obtain gauge.
Pattern Includes: charts and text translations of charts
Stitches Used: knit, purl, knit through the back loop, purl through the back loop, k2tog, p2tog, p2tog through the back loop, k2tog through the back loop, k3tog, p3tog, sl1 k2tog psso, yo, yo2, ssk, wrap & turn short rows.
Other Details: The body of this shawl is worked from the neck down, using yarn overs on each end of each right side row to shape the “wings” and paired yarn overs in the center of each right side row (separated by a center stitch) to shape the point down the spine. These 4 increased stitches are added every right side row, making each row successively longer than the last, so that what started with 5 stitches cast on, ends with hundreds. Once Chart 3 is completed, you will cast on the specified number of stitches that will then be the stitches for the ‘Border Body Chart’. The border will be attached to the live stitches of the rest of the shawl with a k2tog at the end of each wrong side border row, making the border rows lie perpendicular to the previously worked rows. In this way you bind off each of the live stitches by knitting it into the border. This gives the shawl a very elastic edge. To round the bottom corner of the shawl, you will follow the Border Corner Chart, which utilizes wrap and turn short rows to work the entire point while only binding off one stitch (the center stitch) from the body.

These gloves, inspired by Lauren Bacall, have a series of chevron pleats, that give the gloves the refined, sophisticated city-dweller feel that so many of Lauren’s characters exuded.
